Can I Watch Game of Thrones? Is it too pornographic? Coaches Craig and Kevin answer

Is it porn? What about the Game of Thrones? Can’t I watch this awesome show? How do I know if I should or should not watch something?

I get these questions all the time and sometimes I struggle with an answer. I often respond with more questions like:

  • do you feel better after watching the show?
  • Does it move you closer to your significant other (SO)?
  • Are you in a place where you can channel that sexual energy towards love, towards your SO?

Because the answer is unique for everyone we need a test. I found a good test that someone invented and shared on Reddit and I want to share it. Read it and tell me what do you think about Minnow’s Razor (the name of the test)? Did it help you answer some questions about which content you wanted to or thought you should be able to watch.

Watch below as Kevin and I help you answer these questions using the Minnow Razor test.

The Minnow’s Razor Test to Decide if Media is Pornographic

Porn is:

1) Anything (apart from human interaction or your imagination) that you intentionally seek out for the purpose of achieving arousal

2) Anything you lose interest in after masturbating (again, apart from human interaction or your imagination)

3) Any sort of media that you would not mention to friends/family because of it’s sexual content (eg. I wouldn’t casually tell my girlfriend that I watched a video of two girls kissing)

4) Any sort of media that makes you feel like you’re falling back into your old habits or any sort of media that may lead to you breaking any of the first three rules.

EXAMPLE: Game of Thrones

Game of thrones has a lot of sexual content, so using “Minnow’s Razor” I can determine whether or not it is porn.

1) I don’t watch GoT for arousal, I watch it because it is a good show.

2) I don’t lose interest in GoT after masturbating

3) I would tell people in polite conversation that I watched GoT

4) BUT! All the sexual content makes me want to watch online videos of porn

Conclusion: GoT is not something I should watch.
