Hi Friends,
Hope you are fine.15 Days with out porn and masturbation,I am really glad about it. :) But yesterday I heard from one of my friend that there is risk of physical harm with out doing masturbation. In this stage I am totally confused :? I mean, I am on my path of recovery,ya sometime it's hard to hold on.But I really happy with my recovery...But those rumors about masturbation interrupt on my focus. So my question is "IS THERE ANY DANGER OF LONG TERM DAMAGE IF I STOP MASTURBATING FOR LIFETIME"???waiting for reply...thank you... :)

Hi Flyingclouds,

No, there's not really any medical danger to not masturbating. Your body takes care of itself.

Your friend,
Absolution.

I concur. Contrary to what you might read online doing it more is when it becomes harmful.

Patrick Carnes, the guy who wrote "Out of the Shadows", said he didn't masturbate for around 90 days when he was early in recovery. I know someone in SAA who went 100 days before resuming his sexual relationship with his wife--he said it did him a lot of good and was well worth it. For me, I am trying to go maybe days without any sexual release so I can reboot my brain so to speak. I do think it is helpful to abstain from masturbation in the early stages because our brain's automatically associate it with porn, and I have realized that I cannot masturbate without thinking about porn that I have watched.

Like Absolution said, your body will have a release during the night if it needs it. So, don't worry about any harmful effects from not masturbating for a while, you'll be fine.

I agree with everyone, there is no harm in not masturbating, in fact studies have shown that after abstaining from masturbation for 7 you get a testosterone serum boost, which then slowly declines to a normal level.

Personally I've found a lot of benefits from abstaining, morning erections, increased energy, improved social skills etc.

Keep it up :)
